Happy New Year

I hope everyone has a wonderful New Years Eve
and will have a lovely New Years Day.

I’m trying to follow some of the New Years Eve traditions.
My southern friend says it’s bad luck to ring in the New Year
with dirty laundry in the house.
So I’ve been scrambling to get that completed. It’s exhausting!!!

I’ve been reading [...]

Ornaments

.

.
I think people see things in us, that we
would never see. Especially when  they see an
ornament that they know we’ll enjoy. And we
really do. We’d never pick it out for ourselves.
However they know it will FIT.
I love being gifted with ornaments. When I open
the boxes from the previous years, I’m gifted all
over again. I [...]

Maybe it’s because the winter is so barren and cold that we cherish the simplest blooms this time of year.

A Basket and a Bow

From this beautiful vessel grows the most
magnificent and delicate orchids.

Christmas Eve, people remarked….Is that REAL?
I dare not move it to the greenhouse till the days
have longer light, it might stunt the blooms.

Merry Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas, When all through the house.

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
WAIT A SECOND, that doesn’t happen!!

The night before Christmas is full of little people all on
a quest. Tracking Santa through Norad, and trying to catch
elves lurking through windows.  Trust me that’s how it really works.

And what a [...]

Snow Day!

We’ve been hit with a lot of the white stuff this week.
I’m going in all different directions
and then ..IT SNOWED.
And it snowed again, then yesterday’s storm never stopped,
we’re now calling it “ocean effect”.

You still have to shovel and plough it, but they don’t call it snow.
Well, ocean effect, dumped 8 more inches last night.
 Thank GOD [...]

Christmas, all creatures, great and small.

My friend Lynn, has given me permission to share some of her
Christmas pictures.  Lynn is an artist and her husband is a finished
carpenter. He’s made the furniture and mantle, Lynn has done all
the decorating.

It’s a beautiful setting, for a homespun, country Christmas.

And what makes me smile the most is the tiny tree, by the hearth.

It’s a sweet [...]

Way Up North

Well way up north where the air gets cold
There’s a tale about Christmas
That you’ve all been told
And a real famous cat
all dressed up in red
All he spends all year working out on
his sled.

It’s the Little St. Nick

Just a little bobsled called the [...]

It’s Snowing!!

No not here, but on my Weblog.  I figured
out how to make it snow. It wasn’t hard…check option: snow.  For me it’s
High Tech!
Today is the Feast of Sinterklaas..or…St. Nicholas. It’s where the
tradition of gift giving started.  This is a St. Nicholas doll my sister
gave me, way back when.   It’s St. Nicholas wearing his vestments,
including the [...]
