I’ve been saving a blueberry coffee cake recipe all winter.
Today I gave it a go. The recipe says it will feed nine. I
don’t doubt that. If your planning a brunch or tea I recommend
it. And like most fruit cakes/breads, preparing the day before is
even better.

A time for babies
.
We’re enjoying all our new babies, little things are waking up (inside)
here are some happenings in the greenhouse.
.
.
Marigolds just starting. They only took two days to start
coming up. I had them inside in a sunny window.
Now that they’ve formed their leaves, they’re under the
warming lamps in the greenhouse

The Associate
I read a great book this week. I couldn’t put it
down.
The Associate
by
John Grisham,
Publisher, Doubleday
It’s written in true Grisham style. It brought me back
to how exciting The Firm was.
From the first chapter you’re worried for the main
character, Kyle. And when you get to chapter five,
the rug is pulled out from under [...]

Waking UP! (finally)
A couple of days ago I was cleaning out the spent blooms
on the Amaryllis plants, from Christmas. I had shoved them under a bench in the
greenhouse.
And low and behold a plant from last year finally decided to wake up.
This is another Apple Blossom variety. I was thrilled. Everything is so
dead around here, and look how [...]

Little things
.
.
I’m finally using up some of the lovely yarn
I purchased during the fall. I did make some
children hats from the Misti Alpaca Baby,
yarn named Could Blue.
With the leftovers I worked on a pair of mittens.
This yarn is very soft and flexible. I found that working with size
3 (three) dpns was the best bet. Instead of casting [...]

Little Visitors
.

Today is the Feast of St. Blaise. The patron saint of
veterinarians
and defender of wild animals.
I thought I’d share pictures of all the friends that come
visit our backyard habitat.

Morning Mist
A young photographer once told me. Often the cheapness of the
cameras capture the best pictures.
So I took a picture of the woods, it was surrounded with mist.
But it didn’t show in the shot.
Then the sun broke through, and filled all the crystals, in the mist.
.
It’s like a water color. You have to keep snapping pictures [...]

Lionsbrand, Envelope..Valentine’s Day Project
I subscribe to Lionbrand’s newsletter. This yarn company sends
some fun crafty ideas (mostly to sell yarn of course) ..and this one
was too precious not to share. I don’t crochet as much as I should,
however this is a simple pattern, and if your not inclinded to crochet
it would be simple to knit a swatch, 4 1/2″ [...]
