Top Down Sweater..it’s a start.

I’m knitting my very first top down sweater.
I never did this before so it should be a riot.
My problem was getting the pattern. When I
found the one I wanted, it was sold in yarn
shops only.  I drove an hour to find out the
store that should carry the pattern. They  didn’t have
it.  They did have [...]

Favorite Friday

I thought I’d have some fun with my blog.
I’m starting a “Favorite Friday” segment.

Today I’m sharing a knitting bag my
dear sweet friend Cheryl..In Michigan
made special for me. She’s an accomplished
seamstress.  She designed it herself.

There was a nice surprise inside the bag

All rolled up with a lovely bow

What every knitter needs when she’s on the go…

Chemo Caps

I thought I’d post a couple of pictures of the
 chemo caps.
These two can be rolled down over the ears or rolled up,
depending on how you want to wear it.

It’s an easy fast knit. The cables take out the
 boredom, of the straight knit.
It has a wonderful flexible texture to
it.

Actually it’s been easy to do [...]

Basic, rolled brim, chemo cap

The ball band recommends a 10 1/2 (US) size needle.
I used a 9..it worked out well.
Cast on 64 stitches and worked in the round for 3 inches
with main color

then added second color for three (3) rows.
Put a pale pink double strand of baby yarn, one row,
then the second color  again for four (4) rows.
 Worked main color [...]

Leslie’s Stash

My daughter in law, Leslie, is facing a round,
 of chemo, treatments.
Yesterday they met with the
doctors to make a schedule
and detail the
course of action.

She’s young and full of life. Her attitude is amazing. She
has three young children. Too young to watch their Mommy
go through this.

I was able to hit a very nice Yarn [...]

June Mittens

I want to extend my deep appreciation to Subliminal Rabbit (http://subliminalrabbit.blogspot.com/2008/12/bellas-mittens-updated-pattern.html)
for designing and developing the pattern for Bella’s Mittens, from the
movie Twilight.   Marielle Henault is very talented.

The pattern calls for Cascade 109, Peruvian Highland Wool
in pewter.  Well the  young miss I made these, for wanted pink.
It’s a lovely yarn, Merino Superwash by
Karabella. (ha it has [...]

Sheep Street

I’ve been reading on Ravelry (knit and crochet community)
how everyone is going to this huge Sock Summit.
It’s like the knitting Olympics.  And to be honest I never
knitted a sock.
I am clueless to what it takes to make sock.

I feel like I’m missing out. I’m not a stranger to dpns.
Actually I love them.  [...]

Varsity Bound

(Yeah ME!   I figured out how to upload a PDF file.)
I was working on Grandmother’s Favourite  (http://butterisafruit.wordpress.com/2009/05/17/grandmothers-favourite/ )
when we found out
our niece’s baby, Matthew would be Christened very soon. So I
did a rush knit on Varsity Bound (sweater I knitted last year).
This one is much smaller and worked up far more quickly than
Baby David’s sweater did.
(David’s [...]

Found on Ravelry …Knit a village.

I say Found on Ravelry, because those gals (some guys)
are always posting interesting things.  And this is one is
fascinating.

The ladies of Mersham Afternoon Club knitted A VILLAGE.

This is worth reading.  Their work will be going to auction.
